Na de vernietiging van zijn thuisplaneet Krypton landt het ruimteschip van Kal-El in de stalinistische Sovjet-Unie. Daar wordt hij opgevoed om te vechten voor de idealen van de Communistische Partij en groeit hij uit tot Superman, de beschermer van de Sovjet-Unie.
